MEDIA LAW

Moving beyond its traditional boundaries, media has become a complex legal structure integrated with online journalism, social media platforms and digital publishing.

Digital Media and Reputation Management

The dizzying pace of communication technologies has carried the concept of media beyond its traditional boundaries, turning it into a complex legal structure integrated with online journalism, social media platforms and digital publishing. Our law firm offers in-depth expertise in media law to protect our clients' reputation, rights and commercial assets in this dynamic environment.

01

Digital Violations and the Right to Be Forgotten

Swiftly remedying violations in the digital and online environment is one of the most critical areas of legal practice today. Under Law No. 5651 in particular, our firm pursues effective legal remedies against content that violates personal rights, invades privacy or constitutes a criminal offence. Within this framework, we carefully manage the process of obtaining decisions from Criminal Judgeships of Peace to block access to and remove content. We also file legal applications with search engines and digital archives under the "Right to be Forgotten" to remove individuals' past digital traces that adversely affect their current lives.

02

Press Law and Right of Reply

Exercising the right of reply and correction against untrue publications in traditional media (newspapers, TV, radio) and on news websites under the Turkish Civil Code and the Press Law is one of our firm's core activities. In reviewing whether news reporting is lawful, we rely on judicial criteria such as "apparent truth", "public interest", "public relevance" and "intellectual connection", and bring claims for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages against unjust attacks on our clients.

03

Social Media Law

In social media law, we pursue criminal proceedings for offences such as insult, threats, blackmail and disturbing the peace committed via social network providers such as Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube, by identifying perpetrators, analysing IP and port data and gathering evidence. In light of the new rules introduced by Law No. 7253, we also closely follow social network providers' obligations and local representative appointments, and professionally manage violation notices to the platforms.

04

Content Protection and Intellectual Property

In the context of intellectual property law, our services also cover the protection of content, the lifeblood of the media sector. Under the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works (FSEK), we bring actions to stop and prevent infringement against the unauthorised online use, copying or manipulation of photographs, videos, music, columns and news texts, protecting the copyright of content creators, artists and news agencies.
